Germany

These last few days have been a mixture of emotions which was reflected in the shifting scenery of the landscape. The cliffside cities along the interstate of Italy transformed in time into the German homes at the bases of mountains that literally erupted violently from the earth and stabbed their way into the clouds. One of which was the "Eagle's Nest", Hitler's 50th birthday present from his vice-president, there we were hurried into busses and shuttled to the peak, where the view was beyond mind boggling. I'm hoping the pictures do it justice. Afterwards we went to the German Burger King and it was a tiny little taste of home, without ice of course and we were given mayonaise instead of ketchup for our french fries. We came back to the mansion that our Fuher, Casey Cobb, has blessed us with. It is the most incredible place I've ever stayed at. Today we visited Dachau, where 33,000 men were stuffed into a concentration camp built for 6,000. They were tortured and executed during the 12 year Nazi reign. This was one of the more somber and eye opening events I've ever experienced. While it darkened the trip, it opened my eyes and I wouldn't trade it in. We have a 5 am start so we're resting for the night, more soon. Missing you and can't wait to share pictures.

  1. A great description, Brett -- I can almost "see" it even without photographs!
